Brought to You by the Letter K

Itching to get out of the house, I tagged along on a quick shopping trip with my younger brother and a few of his girlfriends. Ten years my junior this crowd is always entertaining! On the way home one of the girls was suddenly bombarded by texts and calls from an ex-boyfriend. Not responding to his desperate attempts to reach her, her girlfriend’s phone began blasting Miley Cyrus tunes as a result of the same guy trying to reach her through her friend. Visibly upset and confused on what to do next I thought I’d chime in with a little help. Evidently this guy was a real slime ball and my brother’s friend just wanted him to go away! I asked for the quick rundown of what he was texting and told her they could both be rid of him as well as drive him blindly insane with one simple letter. Confused, but desperate they decided to give it a go:

Desperate Cheater Guy: Please tell “Friend 1” to call me! She refuses to answer my texts and calls!!

Friend 2: K

DCG (to Friend #1): Please call me! Is ur phone off? We need to talk! OMG! I just can’t live without you!!

Friend 1: K

DCG (cc’d to both girls): I just don’t understand what’s going on! I never meant to hurt you! All we need to do is talk this out! I can’t eat or sleep! All I can do is think about you and all the great times we had!

Friend 1 & 2: K

DCG: What?! Do I not mean anything to you? If I had a car I would drive to ur house! I will do anything to have u back!! That girl meant nothing to me! I will never see her again!!

Friend 1: K

DCG: Well fine! I guess things are over! I guess this is it! Don’t worry about me ever calling you again! We’re through!!

Friend 1: K

By this point the girls were in hysterics and Desperate Cheater Guy was gone! They thanked me for what they thought was great insight and advice! Amused by this I told them not to thank me but to thank my years of experience dealing with DCG‘s…and of course, the letter “K”!

A Little Nepotism for Ya…

My younger brother, Nathan, is truly one of the most talented individuals I know! He is an amazing artist and you can follow him here www.nathanw.tumblr.com

His art school hosts a gallery viewing at the end of every quarter and I love to go and see all of the emerging talent!

I took a few shots from the camera phone (embarassing Nathan to death) so this really doesn’t do any of the artwork justice…

This is his typography piece entitled Alice in Wonderland.

See his handsome pic! (He hates me for this…he really does!)

This is a shot of him by another photography student entered into the gallery…

Again, I apologize for the horrible quality, I just had to share some of this talent with you! He can also be found at www.nathanwellman.webs.com

Character Profile:  PUFFY
This is my dog, Puffy (before you start he was named by a child before I adopted him, and HE happens to like his name…so it stays)
This little guy is my sunshine. My loud, obnoxious, still tinkles on the floor sometimes sunshine! Those of you with pets totally get this!
As I’m introducing the characters in my life I thought he should be first. So from Puffy and myself, we say: HAVE A FABULOUS TUESDAY!
PS: He’s got a birthday coming up on June 15th so watch for party details! (yes. I’m that doggie mom)

It happened like this:

I had been seeing someone for a little while, not long, but long enough to share some secrets, a few favorite shows and one really great Valentine’s Day. We were both in very transitional places and as much as we tried to keep things light I could tell I was falling for him abit. One afternoon after a girls night out, on the patio of a local burger joint, myself and all the girls from the night before giggled and reminisced on the previous night’s shenanigans. That’s when it happened: the world’s rotation slowed tremendously and time almost halted. That’s when he walked out of the restaurant hand in hand with her. She was wearing his tshirt and last night’s mascara. As quickly as he tried to bypass our table the halting of time as I knew it caused the slowest passing and the most clear realization of what was actually happening. Speechless, I let him walk by and just watched as they disappeared down the block together. I felt like the Universe had given me a swift backhand to the face as my usual mouthy self was only able to muster, “Oh.My.God. She’s wearing his shirt.”

In the days and weeks to follow, in between cartons of Ben & Jerry’s, the inevitable “break-up” and phone calls from friends wondering where my resilience had gone, I analyzed my life. What was my deal? Why was this hitting me so hard? Was this the proverbial straw that had broken this camel’s back? Like when Wile E. Coyote is holding 1000 pounds worth of Acme anvils and crashes to the ground only when a random butterfly happens upon the pile? Were my feelings toward this person stronger than I was allowing myself to admit? Was I going through the worst case of PMS known to man? As I’m writing these words I still don’t have the answer to why this event was so pivotal in my life. What I did discover was that I needed my life to be different. I wasn’t sure how, or even in what aspects yet, but the one thing I was absolutely certain of was that it needed to change! My life was turning into a quite informative handbook of Bad Decisions and Worst Case Scenarios.

So this is it! This is me changing things. I really have no game plan or map. I will be chronicling about trying new things meeting new people and traveling to new places in hopes of gaining the experiences and enlightenments that I may have missed in these first 29 years, and hopefully the purpose of it all. This is me, just me, sharing this new journey (along with some pretty funny anecdotes from the past) with you and anyone else who wants to ride along.

It’s Very Nice to Meet You!
